DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 2 (MExN): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has arrested 14 person involved in stone pelting towards running train under Lumding division and Dimapur jurisdiction of NF Railway.
A press note issued by RPF Post, Dimapur on Friday informed that during the last 6 months, a total of 28 stone pelting cases were registered under Lumding division and 11 cases under RPF Post, Dimapur. All the cases registered have been solved by the RPF leading to arrest of 14 culprits, it stated.
The RPF pointed out that in the recent past; there has been an increase in the trend of stone pelting towards running trains. To overcome this situation, different preventive measures like awareness campaign, RPF patrolling, pasting leaflet in vulnerable/crowded area, announcement through PA system and appeal through electronic/print media were undertaken by RPF.
Under section 153 & 154 of the Railway Act, stone pelting is a criminal offence which can lead to imprisonment of a maximum 5 years. The RPF has urged the people to restrain from such offences as well as sensitize others.
