Maligaon, November 11 (MExN): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Northeast Frontier Railway has significantly enhanced security measures at all its stations and onboard trains to ensure the safety of passengers and secure railway infrastructure.
The move comes in the wake of recent security concerns, prompting the force to issue high alerts to all its units.
“Additional RPF personnel have been deployed at sensitive and vulnerable locations across the zone,” an official said.
The intensified security protocol includes the mobilization of dog squads and rigorous anti-sabotage checks being conducted at stations, within railway premises, and on running trains.
Surveillance has been bolstered through an enhanced CCTV network, enabling round-the-clock monitoring of station premises and platforms. RPF personnel have been directed to maintain heightened vigilance to detect and prevent any suspicious activities or unattended baggage.
Officials stated that the RPF is working in close coordination with the Government Railway Police (GRP) and other security agencies to ensure seamless intelligence sharing and effective joint operations.
The NF Railway has also appealed to passengers for their cooperation during security checks and to immediately report any unattended items or suspicious activities to the nearest RPF personnel or railway staff.
“The NF Railway is committed to ensuring the safety and comfort of all passengers travelling across its network,” the official added.
