RPF NF Railway arrests three for theft of passengers’ belongings

Guwahati, July 11 (MExN): NF Railway today stated that its Railway Protection Force (RPF) has been doing “commendable work” in ensuring safety of train passengers.     On June 25, the RPF arrested one 13-year-old boy for theft of a mobile handset, informed a press release from PJ Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer, NF Railway. The arrest was made following a complaint around 3:00 pm on the same day about snatching of a mobile handset from a passenger of 15636 DN. The arrested person was handed over to OC/GRP/Guwahati with the recovered mobile handset for appropriate action, it added.     On June 26 around 10:25 am, one person identified as Kamal Debnath aged about 30 years was arrested with recovery of one bag containing valuable documents, garments, journey tickets, identity card, which was stolen from a passenger of 12506 UP. The arrested person along with the recovered bag was handed over to OC/GRP/Guwahati, according to the release.     Further on July 5, RPF staff of Kamakhya station apprehended one person named Nilamoni Deka (33) along with recovery of a mobile handset snatched from a passenger of 25657 UP. The arrested person was handed over to IC/GRP/Kamakhya.     The press release mentioned that RPF was successful in apprehending 61 persons on charges of theft of passengers’ belongings during the year 2017.
