RPF-NFR Ganja worth over Rs 14 lakh

Guwahati, October 19 (MExN): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Northeast Railway (NFR) has recovered over around 147 kilos of Ganja worth over Rs 14 lakh during its drive against transhipment of contraband items in railways on October 15 and 16. As per an official release, the contraband items were recovered from unclaimed bags during regular checks and drives at various stations and trains over the NFR.

One such incident occured on October 16, when RPF team of Agartala seized 4 unclaimed sacks containing 24 packets of Ganja weighing around 60 kg. Valued at around Rs 6 lakh, the seized items were handed over to GRP of Agartala for further course of action. Likewise, a joint team of RPF/Alipurduar & RPF/New Coochbehar on October 16 conducted a drive at New Coochbehar railway station and seized 4 unclaimed cotton sacks containing Ganja.

The seized Ganja weighing around 56.8 Kg and worth approximately Rs. 5.68 lakh was later handed over to GRP of New Coochbehar for further course of action, added the release from NFR CPRO .
