RPF-NFR recovers contraband worth Rs 8.12 cr, nabs 19 persons

Maligaon, February 11 (MExN): The Railway Protection Force of Northeast Frontier Railway (RPF-NFR) recovered contraband goods worth over Rs 8.12 crore. 

As per an official release, during the same month, the RPF also arrested 19 persons for alleged involvement in transportation of contraband or smuggled goods.

The recovery and arrest were part of the RPF-NFR’s continued the fight against transportation of contraband or smuggled goods in trains and stations, stated an official release from the CPRO NFR. 

The most recent incidents included recovery of 360 grams of Heroin worth Rs 72 lakh and assert of a woman from a Jan Shatabdi Express train at Guwahati railway station by during a joint operation by the NFR-RPF & Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) of Guwahati on January 23. 

Meanwhile, regular conducting drives to control the menace of touts also resulted in arrest of 15 touts and recovery of 130 railway tickets worth over Rs. 3.02 lakh from them.

The RPF-NFR are constantly on vigil towards activities related to smuggling and transportation of contraband items at railway stations &trainsand unauthorised & illegal procurement of railway tickets, the release added.
