
Maligaon, November 17 (MExN): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of North Frontier Railway (NFR) continues its relentless efforts to curb the transportation of contraband and narcotics across its jurisdiction. During routine checks and operations from 1st to 15th November 2024, the RPF apprehended three individuals and seized contraband goods valued at over Rs. 11.14 lakh.
In October 2024, RPF teams recovered contraband items and narcotics worth more than Rs. 1.42 crore, leading to the arrest of 28 persons in separate operations conducted across the NFR zone.
A notable incident occurred on 8th November 2024, when RPF and Government Railway Police (GRP) teams from Agartala conducted a joint operation at the Agartala station. The teams recovered 10 kg of Ganja, valued at approximately Rs. 1 lakh, and arrested one individual. The person, along with the seized narcotics, was handed over to the Officer-in-Charge of GRP Agartala for further legal action.
In another operation on 11th November 2024, the Commercial Intelligence Branch (CIB) team of RPF Guwahati arrested two individuals at the Guwahati Railway Station after recovering 55 bottles of illegal liquor worth over Rs. 10,000. The accused, along with the confiscated liquor, were handed over to the Excise Department of Guwahati for further investigation.
