
Maligaon, May 22 (MExN): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of NF Railway recovered contraband goods around Rs 6.9 lakh during the drives held on May 20 and 21.
Sabyasachi De, Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR in a press release stated that on May 20, a team of RPF/Badarpur while performing escorting duty from Agartala to Badarpur in train no. 15626 (Agartala-Deoghar Express) detected one unclaimed bag.
On opening the bag, the team recovered 8 packets of ganja. The seized ganja was worth approximately Rs. 1.28 lakh and weighed around 12.80 kgs.
The seized ganja was later de-boarded at Badarpur station and handed over to GRP/Badarpur for further course of action.
In another incident on May 21, RPF team of Agartala conducted a drive at Agartala railway station acting over information. In course of drive, they detected few suspicious persons with five bags.
On opening the bags, they found ganja weighed around 36 Kgs approximately valued near about Rs. 3.60 lakh.
Five persons were apprehended in this connection. Later the apprehended persons along with the recovered ganja were handed over to GRP of Agartala for further course of action.
