RPF rescues 429 persons from January to August

Maligaon, October 1 (MExN): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) rescued 11 persons including minor children and women from trains and stations in different operations conducted over the NFR zone on September 27 and 28.

The RPF of NF Railway rescued 429 persons including minor children and women from January to August this year, out of which 69 persons were rescued from being trafficked. RPF of NF Railway also apprehended 16 persons during this period involved in human trafficking, according to a press release issued by NFR Chief Public Relations Officer Guneet Kaur.

As per the release, on September 28, while conducting a check at Dharmanagar railway station, the RPF team rescued two runaway minor boys, residents of Karimganj, Assam and North Tripura. Later, the rescued boys were handed over to Childline, Dharmanagar (Tripura) for safe custody.

In another such incident on September 27, RPF train escort party of train No. 02345 UP (Howrah – Guwahati Express special) rescued one girl, a resident of Khalagaon, Bhagalpur (Bihar). The matter was informed to her family members and later, she was handed over to her mother after proper identification, the release stated.

Another incident was also reported on the same night where CIB Team of RPF/Katihar along with RPF team of Katihar (East) while conducting joint check at Katihar railway station rescued five runaway minor boys who were all residents of Araria district of Bihar. Later, the rescued boys were handed over to Railway Child Line/ Katihar for safe custody and further course of action.

Again on September 27, another runaway minor boy from Kishanganj district of Bihar was rescued by the RPF team of Katihar (East), while checking at Labha railway station. The boy was also handed over to Railway Child Line/ Katihar for safe custody and further course of action.

Meanwhile, Meri Saheli team of RPF Katihar while checking at Katihar railway station rescued one runaway minor girl, resident of Purnea district of Bihar, who was later handed over to Child Line/ Katihar for safe custody and further course of action.

An RPF team of Kamakhyaguri also rescued one runaway minor girl while checking at Kamakhyaguri railway station. The girl who is resident of Alipurduar district of West Bengal was handed over to Railway Child Line/ Alipurduar Junction for safe custody and further course of action.
