Maligaon, March 28 (MExN): Railway Protection Force (RPF) of NF Railway recovered around 158 kgs of ganja last week during their routine checking at different railway stations and trains. The ganja was recovered at six different railway stations of NF Railway and worth approximately Rs 20 lakh.
On March 25, RPF team of Guwahati post conducted a drive against contraband articles in train No. 07029 (Agartala- Secunderabad Special) at Guwahati Railway Station and arrested two persons. During the raid the team recovered around 6.4 Kg of ganja from them worth Rs 64,000 approx. The apprehended persons were handed over to GRP, Guwahati for necessary action.
In another incident, RPF team of Lumding post conducted a drive at Lumding Railway Station and recovered around 10 kgs of ganja worth Rs 1 lakh approx. from a coach at train No. 15909 (Avadh Assam Express). The recovered cannabis was handed over to GRP, Lumding, for further course of action. On the same day, RPF team from Lumding post, during a drive against anti-social elements & contraband goods, recovered around 38 kgs of ganja worth Rs 3.80 lakh approx. from train No. 13176 (Kanchanjunga Express). Tecovered ganja was handed over to GRP, Lumding for necessary action.
At Badarpur Railway Station, RPF team of Badarpur post with the help of dog squad, recovered 11.30 kgs of ganja worth around Rs 1.13 lakh approx. on March 25, from train No. 15663 (Agartala- Silchar Express). Seized items were handed over to GRP, Badarpur for necessary action.
On March 22, RPF of Agartala post, during routine checking at Agartala Railway Station, seized 43 kgs of ganja worth approx. Rs 4.30 lakh from train No. 13174 (Kanchanjunga Express). Similarly, in another incident at Jirania Railway Station, RPF team of Agartala post recovered 38 kgs of ganja worth 3.80 lakh approx. from train No. 05675 (Agartala- Dharmanagar Special). The seized ganjas, at both the incident, were handed over to GRP, Agartala for further course of action.
In another incident, a team of RPF, Dharmanagar post during a routine checking seized around 40 kgs of ganja worth approx Rs 4 lakh from train No. 13174 (Kanchangunga Express) at Dharmanagar railway station. The recovered ganja was handed over to Excise of Dharmanagar, North Tripura for disposal.
On March 22, RPF dog squad of Badarpur recovered around 14 kgs of ganja worth Rs 1.40 lakh approx. from train No. 15663 (Agartala- Silchar Express) in between Kalkalighat & Patharkandi section, from a coach. It was handed over to GRP, Badarpur for necessary action.
