
Maligoan, April 2 (MExN): Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway raided 13 shops/agencies in different locations this week to check illegal sale of railway e-tickets. During the raids, 274 railway e-tickets worth more than Rs 2.60 lakh were recovered and 13 persons were apprehended and prosecuted under section 143 of the Railways Act.
On March 31, a team of RPF/New-Guwahati conducted a raid at ‘Shine Technology’ located at Panjabari, Guwahati. 18 E-Tickets worth Rs 9000 along with three printed pages of ticket history, one copy of IRCTC certificate, one Aadhaar card, a rent agreement and a mobile phone with two SIM card were seized from the shop. The shop owner was taken into custody and a case was registered under Railways Act.
RPF team of Dimapur conducted raids at three specific locations of Golaghat, Karbi Anglong and Dimapur.
13 railway e-tickets worth around Rs 11000 was recovered from ‘Mech Digital House’ located at Ghulapani, Golaghat along with seizure of a mobile phone with SIM card. Similarly, at Gharial Dubi, Karbi Anglong, two railway e-tickets worth around Rs 9000 thousand were seized along with seizure of a mobile phone with SIM from a shop named ‘S.K. Digital Studio’.
At Dimapur, RPF team recovered three railway e-tickets worth Rs 14,000 along with seizure of a mobile phone with SIM from ‘Student Corner’ located at Burma Camp Bazar. Three persons were apprehended respectively from all the three locations and were prosecuted under Railways Act.
RPF team of Dharmanagar raided three different locations of Tripura. 27 railway e-tickets worth around Rs 49,000 along with electronic items were seized from a shop named ‘Sarkar Travels Shop’. The shop was located at Chailengta market of Dhalai, Tripura. RPF apprehended one person in this connection. In another incident, at Dhalai’s Manu market ‘Xerox Shop’ was raided and 23 numbers of railway E-tickets were recovered worth Rs 25,000 along with electronic items were seized. A person was apprehended in this connection from the shop.
RPF raided ‘Studio’, located at Sanichera market, Churaibari (North Tripura) and apprehended one person. 17 railway e-tickets worth around Rs 7,000 along with other electronic items were recovered from the shop. All the apprehended persons were booked under Railways Act.
RPF team of Badarpur raided three locations at Karimganj, Assam. ‘Maa Durga Enterprise’ located at Badarpur was raided and 50 numbers of railway E-Tickets were seized valued around Rs 23,000 along with other electronic items. The owner of the shop was taken into custody. Similarly, another person was apprehended from ‘J.B. Travels & Computers’ located at Bhanga bazar, Badarpur.
39 railway E-Tickets were seized worth around Rs 32,000 along with electronic gadgets and a cash amount of Rs 750. The owner of the shop was arrested in this connection. In another shop named ‘Arohi Computers’ located at Karimganj Bazar, RPF raided and recovered 27 railway E-Tickets worth around Rs 11,000 along with other electronic items but the owner of the shop managed to flee away. In another incident, PRF of Purnia recovered 17 railway e-tickets worth around Rs 32,000 from ‘Rohit Enterprise’ located at Shrinagar, Purnia (Bihar). A person was apprehended in this connection. All the apprehended persons were booked under Railways Act.
Similarly, on March 30, RPF team of Dharmanagar & Kamakhya post arrested two persons from two different locations and seized 24 numbers and 14 numbers of E-Tickets worth around Rs 33,000 and Rs 21,000 respectively along with other electronic items and cash. The shops were ‘First Choice’ located at Karimganj and ‘Vedkarta Enterprise’ located at Guwahati. A case was registered under Railways Act.
