Cougars emerged champion of the TBDA 1st edition Autumn Basketball Tournament in Women’s category.

TSEMINYU, OCTOBER 25 (MExN): The Tseminyu District Basketball Association (TDBA) organised its 1st Edition of "Autumn Basketball Tournament" on October 19 and 20 at Basketball Court, Tseminyu Town Hall premises marking the first basketball tournament in the district.
The first day of the event witnessed the unfurling of TDBA flag by the Deputy Commissioner, Tseminyu District, Rohit Singh, IAS, who was also the special guest for the opening ceremony.
Singh in his address encouraged the youngsters to inculcate discipline and develop passion towards sports. He also spoke on gender equality, women empowerment and emphasised on the importance of educating the girl child and their upliftment.
Five teams registered for the tournament in the men’s category and played league-cum-knockout matches on day one. The second day of the tournament witnessed semi-finals with team RPOC and RLBC making it to the finals.
After the semi final matches, a 3 point shooting competition was held wherein Martin Rasü secured the best three point shooter of the contest. Women's match between Team Cougars and Team TTKL was also witnessed. The match was organised with the support & sponsorship from Tseminyu District Administration in line with Beti Bachao Beti Padhao. Team Cougars dominated the match and emerged as champions in the women's category.
In the final match in the men's, team Rengma Public Organization Chümoukedima (RPOC) defeated the Rural Legions Basketball Club (RLBC) to become the champions of the 1st Edition of Autumn Basketball Tournament 2023. The MVP title for the men's category was awarded to Benhilo Lorin from RPOC while Aien from the Cougars was adjudged the MVP in women's category.
The closing ceremony was hosted by Mitsalo Kath, Vice President, TDBA, words of encouragement by Sentiningsang Longkumer, Honorary Secretary, NBA who is also an executive member, Basketball Federation of India.
Special guest, Er. Abija Khing, Executive Engineer, PWD(H) Division-1, Kohima spoke about the prospects and importance of sports, health & fitness, professionalism and gave away the prizes and awards to the winners of the tournament.
