RPP condemns ‘ugly’ post-election celebrations

Dimapur, July 3 (MExN): The Rising People’s Party (RPP) today denounced what it described as the “ugly celebrations” by NDPP-BJP coalition party workers following the announcement of results for the urban local bodies (ULBs) elections in Nagaland.

The RPP’s condemnation was prompted by what it called “videos of mammonistic celebrations involving Christians throwing money of various denominations from an open vehicle and a balcony being circulated in social media.”

The RPP claimed that the celebrations were allegedly carried out by the ruling Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) party workers of Wards 10 and 20 in Dimapur.

"This is unheard of in our culture and contrary to our values," the party stated in a press release.

Despite NDPP's claims as defenders of Naga Faith and Identity, the videos depict paganistic and materialistic that celebrations totally “against our tradition and deeply offensive to our faith,” the RPP asserted..

Accordingly, the RPP called on the NDPP to practice what they preach and condemn such reprehensible actions by its members.

Additionally, while acknowledging the election results, the RPP reminded ruling the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) of NDPP and Bharatiya Janata Party that their victories do not necessarily signify overwhelming support for the opposition-less government.

While accepting the verdict of the people, it reminded the NDPP-BJP coalition to condemn the ugly celebrations of their party workers post-election results.
