RPP launches crowd funding for Foothill Road

Targets Rs 10 Crore in 100 days

The Rising People’s Party has launched an ambitious initiative of collecting an amount of Rs 10 crore in 100 days through crowd funding for the construction of the incomplete Foothill Road which is also known as the Trans-Nagaland Expressway.

The initiative was launched at Hotel Acacia, Dimapur on September 3 with the tagline ‘Donate for the lifeline of Nagaland.’

Presenting the objective of the crowd funding, President of RPP Youth Wing, Zhokhoi Chuzho informed that the 396 km foothill road was conceptualized by the State Government in 1974 but remains incomplete till date due to “mismanagement, misplaced priorities and lack of planning.” Once completed, he said, the road would connect 7 of the 12 districts covering 14 lakh popuation and serve as a crucial lifeline for the people in terms of communication and economic development.

Awaiting completion of the road pertains to the remaining 10% of earth cutting and the incomplete bridge over the Doyang River.

Chuzho informed that the targeted amount is Rs 10 cr within 100 days starting September 3. He, however, added that the 100 days duration was extendable. All donations received would be uitlized purely for the completion of the road and the amount received would be handed over to the appropriate authority, he added.

During the programme, Munulu Chizo, Miss Phek 2019 and 2nd runner up Miss Diva 2021 made the first donation by contributing an amount of Rs 30, 000.
