Rs 130 crores due, Wangyuh appeals consumers to pay bills

DIMAPUR, MARCH 30 (MExN): W.Wangyuh Konyak MP (Lok Sabha) as Chairman of the Telecom Board of Nagaland has, today, appealed the consumers of BSNL in Nagaland to pay their outstanding dues. Presently, there is a huge outstanding dues of telephone bills, both landline and mobile, amounting to approximately Rs.130 crores. BSNL, a Government of India undertaking is the only telecom company that provides complete bouquet of telecom services including the latest mobile services, internet services even in the remotest areas of Nagaland stated Konyak. 

BSNL which is executing ambitious plans to improve services and cover more town/villages in Nagaland using the state of art technologies like optical fiber systems and satellite systems requires huge funding to execute these plans and part of which comes directly from the bills paid by consumers. Therefore, Konyak stating that the citizens as the real owners of BSNL have appealed the consumers to pay their bills so that the BSNL is not handicapped in its plan to develop the telecom sector and the economic growth of Nagaland.

He has also called upon all the elected members in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, the Deputy Commissioners of all the districts and the departmental heads to ensure that their district or department is not lacking behind in the payment of bills. Wangyuh Konyak taking into consideration, the complaint on service rendered by the department stated, ‘without payment of Rs.130 crores how do we expect BSNL to function normally’ and further prayed the Nagas to see the urgency of the appeal.
