Rs. 217 crore disbursed to 17,825 under MUDRA in Nagaland

Financial inclusion camp cum MUDRA promotion campaign on Tuesday

Nagaland State Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar today disclosed that a total of Rs. 217 crores have been disbursed to 17,825 beneficiaries so far under Micro Units Development & Refinance Agency (MUDRA) scheme in Nagaland.   MUDRA loan of Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana is a Government of India undertaking designed to meet the financing needs of non-corporate small business units.  

The 3-teir loan structure targeted towards different businesses depending on the size and stage of the business under MUDRA includes SHISHU, KISHOR and TARUN.  

Addressing a press conference here ahead of financial inclusion camp-cum-MUDRA promotion campaign scheduled for October 17 in Kohima, Kumar said under SHISHU, 12,691 beneficiaries were benefitted in Nagaland and the total amount disbursed was Rs. 40.16 crores.  

Under KISHOR, 3837 accounts have been opened and Rs. 90.76 crores was disbursed while under TARUN, 1297 accounts opened and Rs. 86.07 crores disbursed.  

SHISHU loan is designed for startups while KISHOR is for businesses that have already started up and require financial help for establishing themselves. TARUN is for those businesses that are already established but require financial help for expansion of the business.  

Stand-Up India scheme So far, 89 accounts have been created in Nagaland under Stand-Up India scheme and Rs. 29.24 crores has been disbursed to the beneficiaries.  

Stand-Up India scheme is part of the government’s efforts to support entrepreneurship among women and SC & ST communities.  

2, 12,765 new bank accounts under PMJDY Under Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), 2, 12,765 new bank accounts have been opened by 29 banks across the state till September 30, 2017.  

PMJDY is National Mission for Financial Inclusion to ensure access to financial services, namely, Banking/ Savings & Deposit Accounts, Remittance, Credit, Insurance, Pension in an affordable manner.   Accounts opened under PMJDY are being opened with zero balance.  

PMJJBY covers 33,830 persons 33,830 persons have been brought under social security network in Nagaland so far under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY).  

PMJJBY is a one-year life insurance scheme, renewable from year to year.  

65,830 beneficiaries under PMSBY Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) so far covered 65,830 beneficiaries in Nagaland.  

PMSBY is a government-backed accident insurance scheme in India. PMSBY is available to people between 18 and 70 years of age with bank accounts.  

APY covers 1, 852 beneficiaries Presently, there are 1, 852 beneficiaries under Atal Pension Yojana (APY) in Nagaland. 

APY is a government-backed pension scheme in India targeted at the unorganised sector workers.  

In APY, for every contribution made to the pension fund, central government would also co-contribute 50% of the total contribution or Rs. 1000 per annum.  

Bank coverage in Nagaland Chief Secretary said out of 74 RD block in Nagaland, so far 44 blocks have been covered and 30 RD blocks still do not have single bank branch. He, however said that there was a sign of improvement to the extent of the number of bank branches growing year after year.  

He said the government has been asking banks to go to interior areas and open branches for which proper building, security and connectivity is required.  

He said dialogue is on so that banks are able to increase banking coverage all over RD block soon.  

Financial inclusion camp Kumar said the financial inclusion camp is a flagship programme initiated by the central government where every state has been directed to conduct special camp to highlight various packages about the financial inclusion Scheme.  

For this, the state government will be conducting such camp on October 17 at 11:00 AM at Capital Convention Centre wherein Minister Of Health & Family Welfare Imkong L. Imchen will be the chief guest.  

Kumar said that Upendra Kushwaha, Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development who was scheduled to grace this function would not make it due to “urgent engagement.”  

The main purpose of financial inclusion camp is to sensitize the people and create awareness about various schemes and to connect maximum number of people to the schemes.
