Under National Hydrological Programme (NHP), Rs. 28 crores has been allocated for the state of Nagaland to be implemented from 2016-17 to 2022-23, Governor PB Acharya informed the NLA budget session here today.
Under this programme, new hydrological stations across the state will be installed and existing stations will be upgraded to develop a hydrology information system enabling integration of data and its sharing by all stakeholders.
Acharya also said that a 240-personnel State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was launched on Republic Day 2016. The SDRF personnel will be deployed in 8 strategic district HQs with the objective to respond quickly to natural calamities across the state, he added.
He further informed that Directorate of Sainik Welfare & Resettlement looks after the welfare of 2,560 registered ex-servicemen in Nagaland, 63 World War II veterans and 1,800 widows.
The Commissionerate of Sales Tax has computerized almost all areas of its functioning to reduce the interface between the department and taxpayers, it was added. Using these e-services, 10,723 dealers have been registered under various Acts, and Rs. 297.35 crores collected through online e-payments since the e-payment module went live from January, 2012 onwards.
During the first three quarters of the current financial year, the Governor said, the collection of sale tax recorded a healthy growth of 17.5%
It was further informed that the Treasuries and Accounts Department is working to improve functioning of treasuries and is presently in the process of constructing a new Treasury at the New Capital Complex area to cater to the need of the directorates.
A new treasury is also being set up at Chumukedima to cater to the need of increasing number of DDOs from the nearby area and to reduce the burden on the existing Dimapur Treasury.
