
Kohima, Feb 21 (MExN): The Government of India, Ministry of Rural Development, Department of Rural Development, New Delhi has released Rs.43, 89,000 as second installment to the two districts of Wokha and Tuensang in Nagaland. For Wokha, Rs 4.85 lakhs has been released while Rs.30.04 lakhs has been discharged for Tuensang as Central assistance for the implementation of the Sampoorna Grameen Rozgar Yojana (SGRY) for the year 2005-2006. Out of the total allocation of Rs.1752.72 lakhs, Rs.101.63 lakhs has already been released for seven districts of the sate.
The expenditure on implementation of the programme with regard to cash component is to be shared on a 75:25 basis between the Central and the State Government. The objective of the programme is to provide additional wage employment in the rural areas as also food security, alongside the creation of durable community, social and economic infrastructure in the rural areas.
The programme is self-targeting in nature with special emphasis to provide Wage Employment to women, scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and parents of children withdrawn from hazardous occupations.
