Although the mystery with regard to the disappearance of 29 cheques meant for 29 schools under Peren district has deepened, initial investigation report are pointing fingers at the Project Assistant as he is solely responsible for the transaction of the said amount. DC, DIS and DEO of the Peren district made themselves clear that they are not responsible for the disappearance of the Rs 5, 22,000 meant for schools under EBRC schemes as the cheques were issued by the then DMA to the Project Assistant, Kaitunchak (Joshua). Investigation is going even at the high level to trace the lost cheques, source said. Peren and Tening EBRC Coordinators also claimed that they have informed the VECs of the release of the amount in one of the awareness camp held at Peren, as such the allegation that they have tried to hush up the matter is not true. Ironically, all the VECs had received the circulation informing them of the release of the said amount; however, the money did not reach them till date.

The money had been released in April last year, and more than one year has lapsed, due to which the VECs decided to lodge a complaint with the Peren Deputy Commissioner and the Education department. Though some said that the amount might have disappeared in the cross cheques, blame is being  passed over to the concern Project Assistant.

DEO Photuli Jamir said that the Education Department would be sending an investigation team to the district to dig out the truth. Meanwhile, it is learnt that two schools, Jalukie Zangdi and Mhainamtsi village, have received the amount meant for them under the same scheme.
