
Planning Commission approves revival plan

THE PLANNING Commission, Government of India has granted official approval to the Government of Nagaland to revive the long- defunct Paper Mill at Tuli, Mokokchung District, and towards this effect, has earmarked as overhead for the mill’s revitalization, Rs 600 Crores. The directive from the Planning Commission apart from the official approval and financial sanction, include commissioning for function of the mill at the earliest.
Nagaland Industry & Commerce Minister H Khekhiho Zhimomi confirmed that the Planning Commission had, about four days back, communicated the official approval for reviving Tuli Paper Mill to his office. “The Planning Commission has agreed to revive the Tuli Paper Mill at the cost of Rs 600 Crores a few days ago. They communicated this to me and very soon it would be commissioned” Minister Khekhiho said. He informed that the modalities involved towards commissioning of the mill would be started at the earliest. “It will be commissioned very soon,” Zhimomi assured.
Giving the credit to the DAN Government under Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for the realization of the long-fought initiative to revive the mill which had remained non-operational for about a decade, Minister Zhimomi said that it was one of the most important achievements of the government. Zhimomi also added that the amount sanctioned by the Planning Commission would be earmarked phase-wise/annually and the inclusive dynamics as to how resources would be mobilized towards the actual functioning would be considered at the earliest.
