Kohima, June 7 (MExN): Rüsoma village celebrated World Environment Day 2025, looking ahead to its 50th Village Day Anniversary on January 5, 2027. The event's theme, ‘Nurturing Environment, Securing Future,’ aimed to create a greener Rüsoma.

The celebration, powered by Department of Horticulture and the Department of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, started with a rally that drew over 800 participants from every khel. Rev Khrieo Mezhü, Pastor CRC Rüsoma, led the dedication prayer.
A highlight of the event was the planting of 4,000 saplings along the village approach road, with the goal of nurturing them into fully grown trees for future generations.

The Department of Horticulture provided Orange saplings, while the Department of Forest and Climate Change allotted tree saplings.

The Village Organising Committee expressed gratitude to both departments and participants, including National Service Scheme Don Bosco College, Kohima (27 members), St Stephen's School, GPS Bawe, and Government High School Rüsoma, for their active involvement.

“We urge all village members to nurture these saplings into mature fruit trees, embodying the spirit of _Ta-a Zole_ - living with life, humanity, and duty, in line with our 50th Anniversary theme. Let's work together to build on today's achievement and make a lasting impact in our community, fostering a sustainable future,” stated Kekhrie Pfukha and Meteitoulie Talie, convenor and secretary respectively of Organising Committee, Rüsoma Village Day 50th Anniversary.
