Dimapur, July 11 (MExN): The Rongmei Students' Organisation Nagaland (RSON) has vehemently condemned what it termed as “the heinous act of sexual assault on a minor girl allegedly committed by Ali Mortaja, a shopkeeper at New Market, Dimapur.” The alleged accused is currently in police custody.
Such a despicable and inhuman act against a vulnerable minor has shaken the conscience of society and must not be tolerated under any circumstances, it stated.
The RSON further extended firm solidarity with the victim and her family as well as moral support during this painful and distressing time.
It also demanded the strictest and swiftest action against the accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, without any leniency.
“The nature of this crime warrants no mercy, and we call upon the concerned authorities, particularly the law enforcement agencies and the judiciary, to ensure that justice is delivered without delay,” it contended.
The Organisation also urged appeals to the competent authorities to expedite the legal proceedings by transferring the case to a fast-track court, so that justice is neither delayed nor denied.
“The safety and dignity of our children and women must remain a non-negotiable priority,” it added.
