RSU honours HSLC and HSSLC successful candidates

Our Correspondent Tseminyu | May 10   The Rengma Students’ Union (RSU) today honoured the HSLC and HSSLC successful candidates by organizing a befitting felicitation programme at Tseminyu with parliamentary secretary for PWD (Housing) Er Levi Rengma as the chief guest.   Speaking on the occasion, Er Levi congratulated all the students who had come out successfully during the last HSLC & HSSLC exam. He lauded Nile Kath, the 18th rank topper of the HSLC examinations, which made the entire Rengma community proud.

Er. Levi said that in the recently declared results of the HSLC & HSSLC the total number of students’ enrollments, students appeared exam and students’ qualified caught his attention.   “The pass percentage is quite satisfactory with 65.46% for HSLC and 73.80% for HSSLC. The total number of student enrolled in HSLC level is 24055, appeared exam was 22970 and qualified was 15027 where as at HSSLC level it is observed that the total number of students enrolled was 18555 students and students appeared exam was 14508 students and number of students who could not qualified to appeared final exam were 4047 students which is 21.81% and out of total enrolled only 10766 were qualified which is only 58.02% which means 41.98% of students could not pass the exam which means the dropped out percentage is approximately 41.98% which is a great concern to all of us,” he said.   Back home under Tseminyu Sub-Division during 2014-15 total number of students enrolled in Class-X was 259 students out of which 257 students appeared the final exam and 197 students pass the final exam which is 72.78% and in HSSLC 68 students were enrolled, 43 students appeared final exam and 48 student pass the final exam which is 63.23%.   He said that the enrollment is something to worry about.   The Parliamentary Secretary said that our country presently faces a dual challenge of paucity of highly trained workforce, as well as non-employability of large sections of the conventionally educated youth, who possess little or no job skills. In this, he said the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship was set up in November 2014 to give fresh impetus to the Skill India agenda and helps create an appropriate ecosystem that facilitates imparting employable skills to its growing workforce over the next few decades.   Tseminyu Additional Deputy Commissioner Vikhweno M. Meratsii, president Rengma Hoho, president Rengma Mother Association and president Rengma Selo Zi also spoke on the occasion and congratulated all the successful candidates. RSU president RN David Magh exhorted the gathering while HSLC topper Nile Kath shared her experiences. The function was chaired by RSU vice president Kisheto Kent while vote of thanks was proposed by RSU games & sports secretary Nosenlo Kath.
