RSZ to clamp down on highway harassment

Tseminyu, July 8 (MExN): The Rengma Selo Zi (RSZ) has informed travelers on NH-29 Rengma area that there has been a report of vehicle theft and “some unscrupulous persons patrolling” the highway allegedly “causing harassment and threatening passersby for the past few days.” This was informed in a press release from RSZ President and General Secretary. The RSZ has now deployed a ‘Quick Response Team’ (QRT) all over the area to oversee the situation. The RSZ also made a public apology to the victims who have suffered undue harassment. It reiterated that it will “not tolerate any such anti social activities within its jurisdiction.” It also warned any persons “found loitering around and disturbing the peaceful atmosphere of the area,” that the RSZ will “not hesitate to punish the culprit.” The RSZ also appealed to the Nagaland State Administration and Police to “put the matter on high alert.” The youth organization stated that it will “extend its fullest cooperation to the law enforcement agencies,” while appealing to drivers and travelers to “take extra care and caution as the ongoing widening of highway is causing slippery and risk driving due to heavy rainfall.” Helpline numbers for assistance to travelers are: 7005644315, 9612316129, 7005633055, 7630098727, 9383045732, 9615375695, 9612362304.
