Exchange of MoU between RBI and land resources department on January 9.
Chümoukedima, January 11 (MExN): A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on January 9 between the Rubber Board of India (RBI) and the Department of Land Resources, Government of Nagaland, to establish a Nodal Centre of the National Institute for Rubber Training (NIRT) in Rüzaphema, Chümoukedima.
This was signed on the occasion of NIRT silver Jubilee celebration at Rubber Research Institute (RRI) Kottayam, Kerala, in the presence of George Kurian, Minister of State for Minority Affairs, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Chandy Oommen, MLA, M Vasanthagesan IRS Executive Director, RBI, Dr Siju T Rubber Production Commissioner RPC, Priya Varma, Director, NIRT, Former Directors NIRT and Senior Officials RBI.
Meanwhile, Additional Director DoLR, Nagaland congratulated NIRT(National Institute of Rubber Training) on 25 years of excellence.
Additional Director expressed that the Department of Land Resources, Govt of Nagaland is delighted to partner with NIRT, RBI.
“Our state has more than 4 lakh hectares suitable for Rubber cultivation, but only 20,000 hectares are developed so far,” he said.
Expanding Rubber cultivation can boost our Rural economy. This MoU will positively impact ecosystem, conservation in our region, he said.
He thanked NIRT, RBI for partnering with the Department through Training and Development and said their support shows concern for our rural community.
The department and RBI relationship is not new and with the inking of this MoU, it will strengthen our partnership more than ever to ensure that together we achieve a common objective and a vision to make our state to accomplish the 3 Es-Ecology, Employment and Economy, he said.
The Additional Director was accompanied by Project Officer Directorate, Department of Land Resources, Nagaland.
