Dimapur, June 22 (MExN): The department of land Resource Development Dimapur organised a short rubber stump distribution programme at the District Project Officer’s office. The District Project Officer Hekato N Yeptho highlighted on the importance of rubber cultivation in Dimapur. He emphasized on proper management of rubber stump nurseries to ensure that efficient yield in rubber production could be obtained.
The DPO in a press release said that major emphasis was laid on proper care and handling of rubber stumps taking into consideration the survival rate of the rubber stumps in nurseries. A power point presentation was conducted to equip the farmers with basics on nursery management. This was followed by distribution of rubber stumps and polybags to the farmers and leaflet on basic management of secondary nursery for easy reference was handed out to each farmer.
Rubber plantation project is sponsored by RIDF which is a state sponsored scheme and also by IWMP which is a centrally sponsored scheme.
