Ruling DAN, Opposition Cong propose forming JPIC

Kohima, August 22 (MExN): Both the ruling DAN and Opposition Congress today unanimously decided to set up Joint Parliamentary Inquiry Committee to inquire into the expenditure incurred by the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society. The decision came out during the question hour of the 12th assembly session today on the demand made by the Opposition leader I Imkong. Both the ruling and opposition took serious note of the recent issue on the attempted fraudulent withdrawal of draft meant for NSACS. 

Opposition leader I. Imkong proposed constitution of Joint Parliamentary Inquiry Committee while the Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio welcomed the suggestion put up by the latter. 

Earlier, Chief Minister told the floor of the House that Rs. Seventeen crores thirty five lakhs sixty three thousand was received as Grant- in- aid for Nagaland State AIDS Control Society for combating HIV/AIDS during 2005-06. Replying to I. Imkong, Rio also stated that no amount has been received during the current year to combat HIV/AIDS.
