Rural youth attend skill training on poultry rearing and management

Mon, September 10 (MExN): Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Mon organized skill training of rural youth on poultry rearing and management from September 4 to 10 at KVK Office Aboi. 


A press release issued by Dr. Ruokuovilie Mezhatsu, Sr. Scientist & Head KVK Mon, Aboi stated that briefing about the training, Myinthungo Murry, Technical Officer (Farm Manager) said that the training was aimed at imparting skill-based training to rural youths on agri-based vocational areas in compliance with National Policy on Skill Development & Entrepreneurship 2015, in agriculture and allied areas to promote employment in rural areas. 


The training covered various topics under poultry rearing and management including Integrated farming system by using different modules viz power point presentation, audio visual in the form of film show, besides skilled based exercise through active participation and involvement of the trainees in the form of interactive session and group discussion. Feed formulation by using locally available feeds ingredients, cultivation and use of azolla as feed supplement and vaccination in poultry were demonstrated to the trainees. 


Dr. Paihem Michui, ACTO (Animal Science) was the resource person for the programme. Moreover a visit to farmers’ field was also in the course. Dr Ruokuoville Mezhatsu, Sr Scientist & Head, chaired the valedictory programme.


Lithrila Sangtam, EAC, Aboi grace the programme as guest of honour and encouraged the trainees to skill themselves with the technical knowledge and put into practice for their livelihood security based on eco-friendly manner and sustainable management by following climate resilient practices. She further emphasized on intensive and extensive integrated farming system for self reliance (smart farmer). Course Director, ACTO (Animal Science) while delivering the concluding remarks said that this training will offer a modular skill training opportunities to rural youth including farmers, farm women, based on local needs and creates a pool of skilled man power to perform farm and non-farm operations. Certificates were distributed to the successful trainees. 


Altogether 19 rural youth from Angphang, Angjangyang, Sowa Changle and Ngangching villages attended the programme.
