Following a shocking rape incident on October 13, the Rüsoma village today submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima demanding justice, and to award stringent punishment to the accused. The village also requested the government not to provide any bail to the accused.


Siekuolie Mezhür, Chairman, Rüsoma Village Council, informed that the incident occurred on October 13 outside the village premises near the road when the accused raped an elderly woman who was returning home. The accused was known to be a habitual offender, according to official sources.


Police sources informed that the accused was nabbed on October 16 at Gariphema village following a joint search team including volunteers from Rüsoma and neighboring village. The accused is currently remanded in police custody.
