Rutsa Youth Org celebrates Golden Jubilee

Established in the year 1973, Rutsa Youth Organisation (RYO), which came into existence with the pioneering efforts of Late Vimedo Rutsa and Late Rheilhoulie Rutsa, today commemorated its Golden Jubilee at Zieke, P. Khel in Kohima village under the theme, “Ignite the vision”.

Rutsa is one of the clans under P. Khel with its members spread across different places including Nerhema, Phekerkriema, Thizama and Dimapur and were also part of the celebration. Presenting an elaborate census of the Rutsanuomia as of December 28, 2023, President of RYO, Kethoneizo highlighted that the total number of population stands at 868 and comprises of 220 households.

The eldest man among the Rutsanuomia is Yavilhoulie (81) and the eldest woman is Neiliehu-ü (93). Kethoneizo also gave a detailed highlight on the Age Group, Clan Profile, Student Literacy Profile and Employment status of the clan.

Addressing the Golden Jubilee Celebration, Dr Neiphrezo Keditsu, Advisor to Chief Minister of Nagaland & Chairman, Nagaland Khadi & Village Industries Board, especially commended the efforts of the Rutsa Youth Organisation in bringing out a clear and detailed census of the clan while emphasizing that this is something that the rest of the Nagas have to emulate and learn from.

He also recalled the Naga Plebiscite of 1951 during the turbulent era in the history of Nagaland as related by elders and articulated that a Rutsa member was one of the first to give his thumb impression. Commending the clan for its pioneering initiatives such as this, he re-echoed the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio’s remark on the Chakhesang tribe by stating that, the most advanced is the Chakhesang tribe, whose members are now excelling in every field be it politics, business or education. In this regard, he also told the Rutsa clan that, “you are ahead of many” and encouraged them to keep moving ahead.

Dr Keditsu further remarked that the state is facing the reality of ‘saturated government jobs’ and underscored the need to broaden their vision. “We have the potential, the talent and the qualities required” to excel in other spheres of life, he added.

He also touched upon the need to preserve one’s mother tongue and especially told the parents to keep encouraging their children to learn their mother tongue.

Several meritorious awards were presented to students starting from the primary level to Ph.D. Besides these awards, other achievement awards were also presented to several individuals in different categories. Others who spoke on the occasion were Medongulie, President of Rutsa Rhüba, Vikie-o, and Dr Vilatuo, Convenor, Planning & Organising Committee. Earlier, Dr Peleneituo, Pastor, Christian Revival Church, High School Area, Kohima said the invocation while Er Medozhazo, RYO Advisor proposed the vote of thanks and Ruokuovituo, Catechist, Christ the King Church, Kohima Village said the closing prayer. Tati Pfhe was presented by Pfuchazünuo.
