Parliamentary Secretary for Youth Resources & Sports, Music Task Force and State Lotteries Khriehu Liezietsu released the platinum jubilee souvenir of Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School (RGHSS) Kohima on November 8.
RGHSS Principal Lebu Krose penned in the souvenir that RGHSS (erstwhile Government High School), established in 1941 was recorded as the oldest Government High School in Nagaland. It was upgraded to higher secondary in 2002 with science, commerce and arts stream respectively.
The school was declared as a “Centre of Excellence” by the state government on August 31, 1999.
“The past seventy five years definitely have been a glorious journey of milestone for the school. The platinum jubilee celebrations offer us all an occasion to thank the almighty for all he has done and all the teachers, staff and students of both past and present for the wonderful contribution they have endowed to the school,” wrote Nagaland’s Governor PB Acharya in the souvenir.
Nagaland’s Chief Minister TR Zeliang also penned, “Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima is one of the oldest high schools in Nagaland, with an illustrious history. Thousands of successful and outstanding Nagas have passed through its portals during the last 75 years.” He encouraged the school to strive even harder in the years to come, and to continue to be torch bearers and agents of change for the Naga society.
“The Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School Kohima has nurtured young students and groomed them to face the challenges of society for decades. The contributions of the institution towards the growth and progress of our society will be remembered for all times and history will record it with letters of gold,” stated Lok Sabha MP Neiphiu Rio.
