Nagaland Football Coaches Association (NFCA) President, Roko Angami today called upon the Naga youth to take up sports with seriousness and quench their thirst for excellence through hard work and discipline.
Self-discipline is the key to success, he reminded the youth while gracing the opening ceremony of the 65th Sports meet of Riisoma Village Youth & Sports Association (RVYSA) at Riisoma village in Kohima district.
Sharing his successful journey as international football player, Roko, praised God and parents for figuring him into an acclaimed personality today.
Roko, who is also Director of Coaches, Nagaland Football Association, maintained that football has helped him to stay connected with many renowned personalities today.
He called upon the sports lovers to honour the crucial role being played by various sports organizations and coaches, adding that the later always desire to connect them into national and international arenas.
He also told the youth to exercise decent and healthy lifestyle and at the same time, obey their parents, elders, leaders and coaches in their hunt for excellence. Stay committed to your goal and strives hard to bring laurels to the state, he said.
Stating that the youngsters are too fond of party for winning or losing the game, Roko called upon them to change their mindset and minimize the same for a healthy society. Further, he challenged the youngsters to put God first in everything, adding that God’s blessings will bring them successful life.
Earlier, RVYSA president Kekuosetuo Chase delivered presidential address while RVYSA Vice President (Sports) Vilatuo Riivieo administered oath to the wrestlers. The inaugural function was chaired by RVYSA Vice President (Administration) Keneizhazo Zuyie and Keneikhrienuo Mezhii as compere. Keneizanuo Mepfhiio and Khriephrenuo Mepfhiio presented special number. Rev Khrie-o Mezhii, pastor, RCRC invoked God’s blessing.
Naga wrestling winners
Keneinguzo Zuyie from Red House today emerged the champion title of Naga wrestling event under senior category. Meteitoulie Talie and Khriesanguzo Zuyie, both also from Red House stood 2nd and 3rd position respectively. Nourhetuo Chase from White House bagged 4th position.
In junior category, Ruokuongulie Mezhii from Red House bagged the first position while Thejavilie Zuyie (Red House) and Kevikhrietuo Terhase (Blue House) stood 2nd and 3rd position respectively. Thejasetuo Suokhrie from Yellow House stood 4th position.
Meanwhile, the RVYSA sports meet will continue till December 30. Seyievilie Pfukri, EAC Kobulong will be the guest of honour at the valedictory function.
