RYS 22nd games & sports meet underway

The 22nd annual games and sports meet 2022 of Razeba Youth Society (RYS) commenced at Razeba town in Phek district on December 8.

Gracing the inaugural function as the special guest, Vevoyi W D Vadeo, President, Chakhesang Youth Organization Kohima (CYOK) said that the society is undergoing a transitional period of social responsibility from elders to the younger generation. The youth have to engage in a formal socio-political and development process so as to formulate policies in securing a future, he said.

We cannot attain and create a sustainable society, unless we invest in youth, he said adding “Investing in the youth will ensure better prospects for their own lives and for our area's development. On the other hand, if we fail to make these investments now, we will further entrench poverty and ignorance for generations to come,”

He made an observation that Razeba range people are doing well in human resource & economic development particularly on self-sustenance/self-employment and self-sufficiency.

Yet, he stated that ‘comparatively Razeba range is lagging behind others even within (17th Chizami AC) on infrastructural development aspect particularly the road.

He told the people not to blame others but stand up as one to get its due share of developmental packages.

Meanwhile Vadeo pointed out that there are numerous athletics that have changed their lives and became famous and rich by simply by engaging in the activities that they once considered being their hobbies. He called upon the youth to leverage their skills to reach national and international arena.

The programme was chaired by Edel Krocha while administration of oath to the participating teams was done by RYS Games & Sports Secretary, Ruvi Krocha.

The sports meet will culminate on December 10.
