Peren, March 30 (MExN): SAARTHI-awareness on wheels activity on family planning under Peren district was conducted in 16 villages from March 11 to 26 with an aim to create awareness and to educate the people on various family planning methods.
The target groups were lactating mothers, eligible couples and pregnant women, Shekho Sophie, District Media Officer, CMO Office Peren stated in a press release.
The participants were made aware of health care facilities provided by the government, the services available in the District, CHC’s, PHC’s HWC and Sub Centre’s, the various schemes under Family Planning.
The awareness emphasized on birth spacing method of family planning where a couple could decide intervals of pregnancies and number of children they want by using temporary methods, such as use of condom , copper T insertion, and contraceptive pills.
Beneficiaries were also informed that all family planning methods were available free of cost in all government health centers.
The team made awareness on the various family planning methods, distributed Information Education and Communication (IEC) leaflets on choices of family planning, provided counselling to eligible couples, distributed condoms, oral contraceptive pills.
515 IEC pamphlets distributed, 23 clients visited, 25 clients counseled, 325 condoms distributed and 139 COC Cycles distributed.
The FGD and IPC were conducted by IEC personnel, ASHA Co-coordinators and ASHAs of Peren, Ahthibung, Jalukie and Tening block.
