Dimapur, March 7 (MExN): Scientific Advisory Committee meeting was organised by KVK Dimapur and KVK Peren, ICAR-RC for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Medziphema on March 6 to review the progress made during 2017-18 and to finalize the action plan for 2018-19.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Tanmay Samajdar, Nodal Officer, KVKs ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya.
A press release received here stated that the programme started with the welcome address by Z. James Kikon, I/c KVK, Peren emphasizing about the importance of SAC meeting so that all Agri and allied activities can be carried out smoothly without any repetition and in convergence mode. Dr. Lohit Baishya, Joint Director In-charge requested the farmer representative to co-operate in seed production programme to get better income.
Dr. Tanmay Samajdar, chairman of meeting asked the KVK officials to work in system mode to increase the farmer’s income and to increase the cropping intensity also.
Ruuvilie Kotsu, District Project Manager NERLEP, Peren asked the scientific fraternity to train the farmers for seed production so that we can revolve the fund within the state as every year we are procuring the seeds from outside the state.
Pramod S. Patil, Manager, NABARD, Regional office, Dimapur told that NABARD can sponsor the Exposure visit of farmers within the state as well as outside the state.
The action taken report on last SAC meeting was presented by Dr. Ebibeni Ngullie, ACTO, Animal Science followed by Progress report for the year 2017-18 by Dr Anamika Sharma, PS and head KVK Dimapur for KVK Dimapur and Z .James Kikon for KVK Peren. Action plan for the year 2018-19 was presented by Dr. Kolom Rabi, ACTO, Plant breeding for KVK Dimapur and Dr. Patu Khate Zeliang for KVK Peren. The programme ended by vote of thanks proposed by E. A total of 33 officials from SAMETI, Dimapur, NGOs and other officials from Agri and allied departments, Government of Nagaland including four farmer representatives from Dimapur district attended the SAC meeting at ICAR-RC for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Medziphema.
