Japheth Woch, NCS, Deputy Commissioner, Tseminyu along with KVK officials and farmers during the SAC meeting of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Tseminyu, held at the KVK Conference Hall on February 6.
Tseminyu, February 6 (MExN): The Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Tseminyu, was held at the KVK Conference Hall on February 6, with Japheth Woch, NCS, Deputy Commissioner, Tseminyu, as the special guest.
The meeting was attended by officials from line departments including District HoDs, officers from Agricultural & Allied Departments, Women Club members of Tseminyu District, and progressive farmers from both Kohima and Tseminyu Districts.
Welcoming the gathering, Keneisezo Punyu, DAO, Tseminyu and Chairperson of the SAC, delivered the welcome address. Dr. Ruokuovilie Mezhatsu, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Kohima, presented the SAC highlights, underlining the role of KVKs as agricultural technology hubs. He elaborated on on-farm testing, frontline demonstrations, and capacity building for farmers, rural youths, and extension workers, aimed at enhancing productivity through location-specific innovations.
On the occasion, a video film titled “Advancing Agriculture Through Innovation” by KVK Kohima was released by the Special Guest.
Addressing the gathering, Japheth Woch emphasized the need for convergence among Agriculture & Allied departments to expand proven technologies, promote climate-resilient varieties, indigenous technical knowledge (ITKs), and agri-entrepreneurship in floriculture, particularly for women-led FPOs and SHGs.
Achievement Reports 2025 and the proposed Annual Action Plan 2026 were presented by Dr. Ruokuovilie Mezhatsu, Dr. Paihem Michui (ACTO, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry), Dr. Martina Shitri (ACTO, Genetics & Plant Breeding), Shri Imtinuksung (SMS, Soil Conservation), Smt Eliseni Tsopoe (SMS, Entomology), and Dr. Shisarenla Aier (SMS, Horticulture).
During the interactive session, officials stressed the importance of interdepartmental collaboration in addressing farmers’ challenges and fostering holistic agricultural development. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sesenlo Kath, Technical Officer, KVK Kohima.
