SAH bans use of pesticides and herbicides in P’boto

Also urges scrapping of CAB

Pughoboto, February 10 (MExN): The Sumi Aphuyemi Hoho (SAH), Pughoboto, has decided to ban the use of pesticides and herbicides in farming activities. Toward this effect, it has resolved to completely ban the use of salt and other chemical in Pughoboto Sub-Division with immediate effect.

This was stated in a press release from SAH President, Inavi Swu and General Secretary, Ghuzui Shohe. It was decided at an executive meeting held on February 9 in Pughoboto.

At the meeting, the Hoho also decided to unanimously oppose the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016 (CAB).

The House stated that “if the Bill becomes an Act it will pose a great danger to the indigenous people of Nagaland.” It thus appealed to Government of Nagaland to urge the Government of India to “scrap the bill before it is too late.”

The Hoho, however, welcomed the steps to be taken by the Government of Nagaland to propose for adoption of resolution to oppose the Bill in the Budget session on February 21 “which is a positive and welcome step.”

It expressed concern over the Indo-Naga issue and maintained that “For the sake of peace, Nagas have shown enough patience,” thereby urging the Government of India to “solve the Naga issue before the upcoming parliamentary general election.”
