Peren, October 30 (MExN): Sainik School Punglwa organised an inter house cross country competition on October 28. Categorised into three groups – Novices ‘A’ and ‘B’ comprising cadets from Classes 6 & 7, Classes 8 & 9, and senior cadets from Classes 10 to 12 – the cadets covered distances of 3 km, 5 km, and 7 km respectively. A total of 511 cadets from the four holding houses and six Mother Houses participated in the event.
Cadet Raushan Kumar (Shilloi House), Cadet Tapan Kodak (Melak House), and Cadet Tamar Mara (Patkai House) bagged the Gold Medal in the three categories respectively. Cadet Tamar Mara completed the 7 km run with a timing of 25:34 minutes and Cadet Tapan Kodak completed the 5 km distance with a timing of 19:55 minutes thereby setting new school records, informed a press release from the school.
In addition, Silver & Bronze medals, Certificates of Excellence to the ten best runners in each category were awarded by the Principal. In the closely contested event, Patkai House emerged as the inter house cross country champion.
