Sainik School Punglwa basketball trophy concludes

    DIMAPUR, AUGUST 14 (MExN): The Sainik School Punglwa Inter-House Basketball Championship 2017-18 concluded with Doyang House lifting the trophy. Lt Col M Kiren Meitei, Officiating Principal, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and gave away the certificates and trophy to the winners. Saramati House and Patkai House finished second and third respectively in the championship.   The championship was played under two categories, Junior and Sub-junior. The junior category was played in the month of April while the sub-junior category started on 31 July. In each category six houses vying for the trophy gave in their best to lift the trophy.   Saramati House was the champion in the Junior category in which they defeated Doyang House. In the Sub-Junior final which was played between Melak and Patkai, Melak House in a nail biting match won the trophy with a score of 17 – 15. The overall trophy was decided based on the combined points scored in both the categories. The overall trophy was bagged by Doyang house which topped the points table.   Cadet Eric of Patkai house was adjudged the best player in the sub-junior category while Cadet Ezra Huto of Saramati House was given the award earlier for the junior category.   The Chief Guest in his speech emphasised on the importance of playing games in a student’s life. He encouraged them to pick up at least one game and also to develop the leadership skills and art of coordinating as a group through these games.
