
Peren, May 13 (MExN): Sainik School Punglwa celebrated its 10th Founder’s Day on May 13 with LL Doungel, IPS, Director General of Police, Nagaland and Kimi Doungel as the chief guest and guest of honour respectively. Senior officers from Army, Members of Old Boys Association of Nagaland, parents and village elders joined the celebration.
The guest were received by Group Captain Sanjay Gaekwad, Principal Sainik School, Punglwa. The chief guest was presented an impressive Guard of Honour by the NCC cadets of the school. He inaugurated the newly constructed Arjan Singh Indoor Sports Complex and Science & Arts Exhibition on theme ‘Science and Arts Exhibition of Everyday Life.’ Various working models in different categories prepared by the cadets were displayed in the exhibition.
In addition, creative prize winning photographs captured by the Photography Club members were displayed. The cultural programme began with the lighting of ‘Lamp of Learning’ and release of the school half yearly news magazine ‘VYWOM’ (Voice of Young Warriors of Morung) by the chief guest.
Principal, Gp Capt Sanjay Gaekwad in his Annual Report, the principal asserted that the school remains focused on its objective ‘One aim, one goal NDA.’
The multitalented cadets of SSPN then presented a spectacular cultural potpurri which included songs, dance and skit. Kimi Doungel gave away the awards for Best in Academics (Individual) to Cdt Mari Riba, Best Sportsman of the Year - Cdt Himalya Mridha, Best OLQ - Cdt Tokhuo Humtsoe, and Best passed out Cadet to Cdt Kuyi Nienu. Doungel presented overall Academic Trophy to Japfu House and the prestigious Cock House Trophy for the academic year 2016-2017 to Patkai House.
