Sainik School Punglwa concludes annual sports meet

Punglwa, December 6 (MExN): The Sainik School Punglwa Annual Sports (Athletic) Meet, which began on December 3, concluded on December 5 with a ceremony graced by Principal Dr Smita Misra as Chief Guest.

A key feature of the annual event was the release of Vibrant Strings, the school annual magazine, and Voice of the Young Warriors of the Morung (VYWOM), the half-yearly newsletter showcasing the creative expressions of the cadets and activities undertaken in the school.

The event included Aerobic Display, Flag Exercise and Cultural dance, followed by the finals of track and field events including the 100-metre dash, 4x200m, 4x100m and high jump. Girl cadets also competed in the 4x100m relay final.

Awards were presented over the three days by retired staff on the opening day, followed by the officiating Vice Principal and Administrative Officer on the second day, and Principal Dr Smita Misra on the final day. Pauna House won the overall trophy in the junior category, while Japfu House emerged winners in the senior category. Cdt Nepuni Osah of Doyang House and Cdt Mathiuchun of Pauna House were declared the fastest cadets in the junior and senior categories respectively. In the girls’ category, Cdt Sanghavi A Saikia and Cdt Ongarhoni Y Ngullie won the 100-metre dash in their respective categories.

Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr Smita Misra congratulated the winners and the school community for the successful conduct of the meet. She acknowledged the zeal, team spirit and sportsmanship displayed by the cadets throughout the competition, and wished the cadets and their parents a merry Christmas and happy New Year. She advised the students to continue prioritising their studies and health.
