Sainik School Punglwa lifts Overall Championship trophy at AISSNG

DIMAPUR, July 28 (MExN): Sainik School Punglwa, Nagaland lifted the overall championship trophy of the Group Level All India Sainik Schools National Games (AISSNG) 2023.

In the meet, four Sainik Schools (SS) of North East region namely SS Goalpara (Assam), Chhingchhip (Mizoram), East Siang (Arunachal Pradesh) and Punglwa (Nagaland) participated. Events in basketball, volleyball, athletics, literary and cultural competitions were held from July 25 to 28.

Sainik School Punglwa bagged the first positions in athletics, Hindi debate and quiz competition. Sainik School Goalpara and Sainik School Chhingchhip finished second and third respectively. 

The closing ceremony was was graced by Brig PS Sangwan, Group Commander, Group Headquarter, NCC Kohima as the Chief Guest and Dr Arun Kumar Sangwan, Head of Department, College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Jalukie as the Guest of Honour who on their arrival were received by Lt Col Leena Bajaj, Officiating Principal Sainik School Punglwa. 

The Chief Guest during his address congratulated the winners and encouraged those who could not make it by giving an inspirational and motivational speech.  He urged cadets not to get dishearten because participation is more important than winning as it leads to learning.  He also highlighted the virtue of determination. Brig PS Sangwan also expressed his joy is seeing the girl cadets being part of the meet for the first time and the discipline with which every team conducted themselves. 

The programme ended with a vote of thanks to the entire fraternity of the schools to include academic and administrative staff and the general employees by the Officiating Principal.
