SAKK’s 48th general conference focuses on ‘Resilient Aphuyemi’

Puneboqa (Pughoboto), January 11 (MExN): With a focus on the theme, 'A Resilient Aphuyemi,' the 48th general conference of Sumi Aphuyemi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu (SAKK) is currently underway in Puneboqa village under Pughoboto Sub-division of Zunheboto district. 

A total of 1078 delegates representing 24 units of SAJJ are participating in the conference scheduled from January 9-12.

According to a press release from the SAKK, the conference has welcomed a range of guests and dignitaries who shared insights and encouraged students to focus on the theme and related issues. 

These include Dr Sukhato A Sema, MLA of the 13th A/C Pughoboto, who encouraged students to value their roots as an integral aspect of life. He was accompanied by officials such as Obed Achumi, BDO RD Block Ghathashi, and Hankiumong SDPO Pughoboto.

Kuputo Shohe, Chairman of Nagaland State Mineral Development Corporation (NSMDC) Limited, emphasised the importance of embracing responsibilities and preserving cultural heritage, not only through attire but also through folklores, songs, games, and various other aspects. 

Awan Konyak, Chairman Bio Resource; Albert Yanthan, General Manager NSMDC; Soron Ramung, Proprietor Ramung Enterprises Manipur; and Aosenti Longkumer, Manager NSMDC accompanied the chairman.

Meanwhile, Educator and Psychologist Dr Lovika P Shikhu underscored the critical need to confront ongoing stigmas surrounding mental health issues.

She stated that the true value of education can be questioned if it fails to shift one’s perspectives and urged a collective effort to foster understanding and support in addressing these challenges.

Representatives from other unions, including Sumi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu’s Assistant General Secretary Toshika K Kiba, also encouraged parents to support their children in discovering their potential rather than imposing decisions on them. 

Ajo Tsela, President Rengma Students Union, tasked the delegates with a challenge to aspire for significant achievements and urged them to become influential individuals in life by the time they attend the next conference. Former minister Vikheho Swu also addressed the conference.

The conference is packed with diverse activities, including volleyball competitions for men and women, Sumi essay writing, Sumi poetry, folk dance, folk song, folk games, etc, the SAKK release informed.  Another highlight is the Aphu Shekiqhe Leshe, providing individuals with an opportunity to celebrate the wonders of their native places, it added.
