Dimapur March 17 (MExN): The Philosophy Department of Salesian College of Higher Education had conducted a philosophical seminar entitled, ‘Post Modernity: Origin and its Evolving Different Facets’ on March 16.
The seminar began with the lighting of the lamp and the chanting of the Gayatri mantra by the 4th semester students. The Principal, Fr. Paul Punii, welcomed the participants, the staff and students and invited all for a fruitful discourse on post modernity. The keynote address was delivered by Rev. Fr. Chacko, Rector of Good Shepherd Seminary, Thehekhu. In his address, he gave a brief outline of postmodernism and set the participants in the postmodern perspective.
The papers were presented by four students (Phamnitin Agatha, Jonathan Teron, Milton George, Loli Kapena) of the fourth semester under the guidance of Lecturer John Paul Vemo Soro. They highlighted Post modernity as a mood of our time, as a state of mind, a disposition and an attitude of constructive destruction, challenging universal and objective truths, as the celebration of pluralism and the subjective appreciation of the difference.
