Dimapur, April 1 (MExN): Salesian College of Higher Education, Dimapur (SCHE) celebrated its Annual Cultural Day 2026 on March 31 at the Salesian Ground under the theme “Together through Tradition,” bringing together students and faculty in a vibrant display of culture, heritage and community spirit.
Organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in collaboration with the Department of Sociology and the Student Forum, the event featured a mix of performances, traditional games and cultural exhibitions.
Guest of Honour R Lungleng, podcaster and political commentator, encouraged students to value patience and hard work, urging them to move beyond the pursuit of pass marks and aim for academic excellence. He also emphasised the importance of critical thinking and the role of education in addressing real-life challenges.
The “Cultural Melody” segment featured performances such as the RihLaama Rongmei cultural dance and a “Runway of Heritage” fashion showcase. The programme also included folktale narration and a display of tribal cuisine, highlighting the richness of local traditions.
As per a press release from SCHE, a highlight of the event was the Traditional Games segment, where students participated in indigenous activities including fire-making, spear jumping, yarn rolling and winnowing. The competitions, organised for both men and women, aimed to promote traditional skills while fostering teamwork and camaraderie.
The celebration concluded with a closing ceremony, with organisers noting that the event reinforced cultural pride, unity and a shared sense of identity among participants.
