An NAAC Peer Team visited the Salesian College of Higher Education.
Dimapur, October 20 (MExN): Salesian College of Higher Education, Dimapur, hosted a National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Peer Team on October 17 and 18, marking its first accreditation cycle.
The Peer Team, comprising Dr. Sugam Anand from Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Uttar Pradesh (Chairperson), Dr. Vinod Pavarala from the University of Hyderabad (Member Coordinator), and Dr. Shivdas Shirsath, Principal of MSP Mandals Yashwantrao Chavan College, Maharashtra (Member), visited the college to assess its academic, administrative, and infrastructural standards.
Upon their arrival, the Peer Team was warmly welcomed with a motorcade by students, followed by presentations from Principal Fr. Dr. Paul Punii and IQAC Coordinator Sr. Mercy Philip. The principal outlined the institution’s history, achievements, and future plans, while Sr. Mercy focused on the college’s quality assurance initiatives and ongoing development projects.
The first day’s evaluation covered curricular aspects, teaching methodologies, student engagement, and the institution’s Continuous Internal Evaluation reforms. The team visited academic departments, assessed research and extension activities, and held interactions with heads of departments.
At midday, a luncheon meeting was hosted by Rev. Fr. Joseph Pampackal, SDB, Provincial of Dimapur and President of the College’s Governing Body. Notable guests, including Dr. K. Nishena Nekha (Additional Director from Higher Education), Prabhakar Sharma (representing the Vice-Chancellor of Nagaland University), and Vikie Nagi (Chairman of Kuda Village Council), lauded the college’s contributions to society. The NAAC team used the opportunity to engage with key stakeholders in discussions on institutional governance and future planning.
In the afternoon, the Peer Team reviewed the college’s infrastructure, including the library, sports facilities, and wellness centre, and met with students, alumni, and parents to evaluate student support systems and career counselling services. The day ended with a cultural programme.
On October 18, the team focused on the college’s commitment to institutional values, safety measures, and environmental sustainability. Meetings were held with heads of departments, committees, and the governing body to review governance and leadership practices. The visit concluded with an exit meeting where the team, led by Dr. Sugam Anand, praised the college’s holistic education approach and infrastructure, offering recommendations for continued improvement.
