MLA and Advisor Tongpang Ozukum releasing the book commemorating the life and legacy of late Nagaland political leader T Sentichuba at Hotel Grand Vista, Dimapur on May 16.
Dimapur, May 16 (MExN): A book titled Samanir, chronicling the life, leadership and legacy of late Nagaland legislator T Sentichuba, was officially released at a programme held at Hotel Grand Vista, Dimapur, on Saturday.
The event brought together family members, dignitaries, church leaders, and admirers to honour the former Angetyongpang constituency representative, who contested elections ten times and won seven, a record reflecting the enduring trust of his people. Fondly known as Samanir, meaning “forefront leader,” he was remembered for his pioneering role in public and social life.
Speaking at the launch, Nagaland’s Advisor for Water Resources and local MLA Tongpang Ozukum described the book as “more than a biography, a reflection of sacrifice, determination, and visionary leadership.” Recalling his personal encounters, Ozukum said the late leader “carried a distinct aura and lived by unwavering principles,” adding, “He was a man of wisdom and courage who always kept his word. That is why people repeatedly placed their trust in him.”
Describing T Sentichuba as “the pride of Mongsenyimti,” Ozukum also acknowledged the support of his wife, Chubasenla Imsong, who emotionally recounted the journey behind the book’s making and thanked all who stood by the family.
Author Tiala Imchen, a noted writer and researcher from Mangmetong village with a Master’s Degree in Divinity, said T Sentichuba was a deeply hardworking and principled man whose life embodied strength and resilience. “His story continues to inspire many, especially the younger generation,” she said.
Delivering the vote of thanks on behalf of the family, Sashizungla Ozukum said the family desired for future generations to know her father’s remarkable legacy. “It was God’s divine alignment and perfect timing that brought everything together,” she said.
The programme concluded with a benediction by Rev Dr Lima Ozukum. Ozukum also quoted the late leader’s own words: “Let us keep in mind that our life is a message to others, a message to our people.”
