
Dimapur, August 10 (MExN): The State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Nagaland organised a trainers’ training programme for ATMA Block Technology Managers (BTMs) on ‘Research - Extension Convergence’ at SAMETI Medziphema from August 6 to 7. A press release issued by the Incharge Director SAMETI & Principal IETC, Medziphema stated that the resource persons for the training programme were Dr K K Jha, Professor & Head, Department of Agricultural Extension; Dr J Longkumer, Professor Department of Agricultural Extension and Dr N K Patra, Assistant Professor, Department of Agricultural Extension, NU: SASRD, Medziphema, Nagaland.
The release stated that detailed theoretical and practical sessions were imparted on emerging issues of Research Extension Convergence; Innovative Models of Research-Extension Convergence; Strengthening Research Extension- Farm Linkages (R.E.F); Gap Identifications in Technology Transfer and ways and means to tackle it; Planning and Implementation of Extension Programmes for Effective Research – Extension Convergence; and Ways to establish Synergy with Agri and Allied Departments and Research Institutions to give need based to farmers.
The valedictory function was chaired by Vikaho Chophi, DPD SAMETI while feedback from the trainees was given by Keduwete-u Lomi, BTM, Phek and Hokato Achumi, BTM, Kiphire respectively. Addressing the valedictory programme, Dr Watimongla Jamir, Incharge Director SAMETI and Principal IETC congratulated the trainees on completing a very important training with much enthusiasm. She also encouraged the trainees to incorporate technical knowledge to the field level in order to benefit the farmers and achieve the goal. “The training program saw a good turnout of participants from all districts of the state and concluded successfully with distribution of certificates and training handouts to all the participants. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Tiajungla Longchar, DPD SAMETI,” the release added.
