Samson village gets Health & Wellness Sub-Centre facility

Chümoukedima, May 9 (MExN): The Health & Wellness Sub-Centre (HWC-SC) at Samson village was formally inaugurated on May 8 by Dr Mereninla Senlem, Principal Director, Department of Health & Family Welfare (DH&FW), Nagaland.

The programme was chaired by T Yetovi Tuccu, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dimapur, who welcomed the attendees and said the Health Department was striving to bring healthcare facilities closer to communities and to their doorsteps.

He stated that although the HWC-SC would provide basic healthcare services along with preventive and promotive healthcare, the public should avail the services and promote healthy lifestyles and good habits. He also urged the community to treat the HWC staff as their own and coordinate with them for the smooth functioning of the centre.

The HWC-SC was dedicated by Avika Zhimo, Pastor of Samson Village, following which the special guest inaugurated the facility and addressed the gathering.

In her speech, Dr Senlem said Samson Village was privileged to have a dedicated building for the HWC-SC along with staff quarters. She said the department took pride in establishing a functional and well-equipped facility in the village.

Highlighting the importance of preventive and promotive healthcare, she encouraged the community to adopt organic food practices and healthy lifestyles. She informed that the HWC would provide 12 essential health packages, including services related to non-communicable and communicable diseases, besides conducting regular health talks, yoga and meditation sessions.

Dr Senlem further urged the community to take ownership of the HWC, treat the staff as part of the community and actively coordinate in its functioning. She expressed confidence that the HWC-SC at Samson Village could emerge as a model health centre for Nagaland and function as a decentralised and self-sufficient centre of care.

Samson Ayemi, Head GB of Samson Village, termed the day historic for the village and said the HWC would benefit 10 neighbouring villages. He also assured full community support for all health-related activities undertaken by the department.

The benediction was pronounced by Hoshili Chishi, Women Pastor of Samson Village.

The event was attended by several dignitaries and health officials, including MLA Tovihoto Aye, H Atokhe Aye, Mughato Aye, George Ayemi, Niholu Ayemi, Keveduyi Theyo, Khelito, Akum, Yartenla Jamir, Benchilo Ngullie and Nutalu, along with staff under DPMU and BPMU Dhansiripar.
