
Dimapur, September 25 (MExN): Langto Konyak, the Angh of Sangsa Village, passed away on September 25 at a private hospital in Dimapur.
Described as an efficient and compassionate leader, late Langto was the father of P. Paiwang Konyak, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland.
Meanwhile, Nagaland Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio led the State in mourning the demise and said: “On behalf of the Government of Nagaland, I convey my deepest condolences to the bereaved family. It is our earnest prayer that Almighty God grants them strength, courage, and comfort to bear this irreparable loss.”
Remembering late Langto as a respected and compassionate leader, the CM highlighted his generosity, patience, and deep knowledge of Naga and Konyak history. He also described him as a devout man of God, dedicated to outreach and the Gospel. With his passing, the Konyak community has lost a guardian, CM Rio noted, but called for celebrating his life by cherishing the legacy he leaves behind.
Y Patton: Deputy CM Y Patton described late Langto Angh as a man whose life was marked by wisdom, humility, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.
“The values he instilled, the love he shared, and the life he led will continue to inspire and guide future generations,” he stated.
On behalf of himself and his family, Patton extended condolences to Minister Paiwang and the bereaved family. He prayed that they find strength and courage in the cherished memories they hold and in the enduring legacy late Langto leaves behind.
NPP Nagaland: The National People’s Party (NPP) remembered late Langto as a highly respected leader and elder who lived a life of dignity, integrity, and principle, and said that the State is grieved by his demise. His wisdom and guidance as a traditional custodian and Angh were a source of strength to his people, and his contributions towards the community will always be remembered with deep respect, it said.
On behalf of NPP Nagaland, State President A Nyamnyei Konyak conveyed condolences to Minister Paiwang and the entire family during this difficult time of grief, adding: “We stand in solidarity with them in their sorrow and pray that Almighty God grants them strength, comfort, and peace in the days to come.”
Phom People's Council: Late Langto Angh was an honest and humble leader who served his people with affection and sincerity, and his death is a great loss for the Konyaks in particular and the Nagas in general, the Phom People's Council (PPC) stated in its condolences.
The void left behind by him will be hard to fill, it added, further conveying its condolences to the bereaved family members and praying that Almighty God may grant them solace to bear the irreparable loss.
C Kipili Sangtam: MLA and Chairman of DPDB Kiphire, C Kipili Sangtam, also mourned the demise of late Langto and paid tribute to him as a highly respected leader of Mon District.
"On this moment of grief, I, on behalf of my family, extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family during this time of immense loss. I pray for the departed soul—may his soul rest in peace," he added.
