Dimapur, February 9 (MExN): The Dimapur-Kohima Sangtam Students’ Union (DKSSU) expressed its ‘displeasure and regret’ over the ‘irresponsible and thoughtless act’ of the United Sangtam Likhüm Pümji (USLP) President Yonghopi by attending the February 8 consultative meeting despite the directives of the apex tribal bodies, NTAC and JCC in general and Sangtam in particular. Expressing to firmly support the demand of the Sangtam Peoples Forum Dimapur District (SPFDD) and the Sangtam Union Kohima (SUK) to impeach the straying President, the student body in a press release said that “such a ‘defiantly erring’ individual defame the image of the tribe.”
“We commit our solidarity towards other Apex Naga Tribes who took up the struggle for the common cause of the Nagas,” DKSSU stated. The student body also conveyed deepest condolence to the bereaved families of slain youths, Lt. Bendangnungsang and Lt. Khriezavizo Metha and also Lt. Tsapise Sangtam “who lost their lives all because of the Government’s treacherous policy and such act should be condemned by every Nagas within or outside Nagaland.”
